Issey Miyake to receive Japanese Order of Culture

November 2, 2010

Talanted designer Issey Miyake will receive Japanese Order of Culture at the Imperial Palace

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 2, 2010 -- Japanese fashion is going from strength to strength at the moment and Issey Miyake’s contribution to this will be recognised as he receives the Japanese Order of Culture this week.

The Order of Culture has been a Japanese tradition since 1937 and highlights the countries achievements in art, literature and culture.

Issey Miyake will be presented with the title at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on November 3 which is also Japan’s National Culture Day.

Issey Miyake is best known for his clothing collection like “pleats please” launched in 1993, his exhibitions and his fragrance line.

Issey Miyake is an honourable fellow who told WDD that he sees the Order of Culture as a “form of encouragement to all the people with whom I work”. It is refreshing to see a top designer discuss the importance of those he works with. "This includes not only our young designers but also those in the textile industry: spinners, weavers, knitters and dyers all of whom are still managing to create things of beauty and quality”

The Japanese order of culture presentation will take place in the Imperial Palace, Tokyo and will be held on Japan’s national culture day.
