Mark Macdonald from Auckland, New Zealand, last week released an important article on why it is essential for multilevel marketers to become genuinely interested based upon chapter 4 of Dale Carnegie’s ‘How to win friends and influence people’ book. The article discussed why it is essential for people deploying multilevel marketing to be effective at building relationships and how becoming genuinely interested in people is key to developing these relationships.
“Multilevel marketing is all about working with people. Therefore it is essential that you are effective at building a relationship with your potential customer that allows you to effectively work together. It is also important that you can build this relationship quickly because you may only have one of two conversations in order to connect with each other. Otherwise the other person may move onto another opportunity.” replied Mark when asked why was this article so important to people deploying multilevel marketing.
“To build a relationship quickly from scratch requires you to have the ability to connect to a person in your first meeting. Think back to when you have met someone for the first time and you walked away thinking that you really enjoyed their conversation. Now think about what you talked about? Was it about you? Was it about something you are interested in?”
The article discusses how multilevel marketers need to tap into the human desire for people to talk about themselves. They need to try and quickly find out what their potential customers are interested in and then start talking about that. The conversation will flow once you are talking about something that the other person is knowledgeable about. But more importantly they are passionate about.
When asked about the simplicity of this subject Mark replied “The key to building an effective relationship is not just talking about a subject that the other person is interested in but you must show a genuine interest in the subject. You can show this by asking probing questions, or relate it to something recently you read in the news or something someone else had mentioned.”
“My video on this chapter is also worth a watch on how I got to know my staff and customers when I was a corporate leader”.
