Children’s Book author Leah Orr, along with 8th grade daughter Alyssa Orr chronicles a year in the life of a new storybook character, Peter, a fun-loving child with a great sense of adventure. "While "It Wasn’t Me" is fiction, it is based loosely on my experiences of raising three girls, many pets and numerous messes they’ve created along this journey called growing up," said Orr. “According to Orr, not only did her 8th grade daughter Alyssa assist her with the story, her mother, Josephine Lepore, was the illustrator.” “This book is the culmination of 3 generations of women coming together for a common cause – to cure Cystic Fibrosis, (CF),” said Orr.

After attending a “Leadership in Action” conference at Harvard University last summer, daughter Alyssa came home wanting to help raise more money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis, a disease that affects many children, including Alyssa’s youngest sister Ashley. A large portion of proceeds from “It Wasn’t Me” are generously donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

"It Wasn’t Me" joins the bookshelf with Orr’s other children’s books, “Messy Tessy” "Kyle’s First Crush" and "Kyle’s First Playdate," The Kyle Series was written to share the joy and importance of young love and great friendship, while at the same time briefly talk about Cystic Fibrosis .

Between profits from Orr’s books and participation in local CF walks over the past 10 years, Orr and family have raised more than $650,000 for CF research. CF is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of nearly 70,000 children and adults worldwide and Orr’s personal goal is to raise $1,000,000.

Josephine Lepore is a resident of Woburn, Ma. And is an Art teacher at the Nazzaro Center in the North End of Boston. She was recently listed at one of the Miami Herald’s Women to Watch for 2010.

Leah has recently been featured on ABC’s Health Watch, NBC Today South Florida, CBS South Florida, CBS This Morning Virginia, NBC the 10! Show Philadelphia, Fox 4 News Morning Blend, National Syndicated, “The Daily Buzz”, and Lifetime TV’s “The Balancing Act.”

Leah has been featured in Publications such as: Forbes Magazine, Medical News Today, The Miami Herald, The Sun-Sentinel, etc. Ashley was also a recipient of Oprah’s generosity in “The Big Give”.

Orr and her husband were recently nominated as one of Florida’s Finest Couples by the CF Foundation, and included in “IN THE SPOTLIGHT for Nov. 2008 on CFF.ORG.

Leah was also nominated as one of Broward County’s top 100 Outstanding Women of 2010. Orr grew up in Boston, MA and is a graduate of University of Miami.
