Jackalope Ranch declared winner of City of Indio’s 20th Annual International Tamale Festival.

Indio, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) December 6, 2011 -- Indio, CA , December 4, 2011 The City of Indio announced the winners of the 20th annual Indio International Tamale Fest. Jackalope Ranch garnered two awards, taking First Place in "Best of Overall Tamale" and First Place in "Best Commercial Tamale." The winning Tamale from Jackalope Ranch was the Pork Tamale, made with shredded pork in Juagillo and Puya Chile Salsa, tomatillo, dried Puya Chiles, garlic, cumin and salt. Jackalope Ranch won awards in 2010 as well.

The popularity of the tamale festival continues to soar and gain national interest. Recently, the Food Network-TV showed its 70 million viewers Indio’s International Tamale Festival, and ranked the festival in the top 10 “All-American Food Festivals” in the nation. The rich heritage of the tamale, consistent community support and hard working tamale makers have created the festival's tremendous success.

Festival's Guinness World Records:
The World's largest Tamale-over 1 foot in diameter and 40 feet in length, Dec. 4, 1999. The World's largest tamale festival-with 120,000 in attendance, Dec. 2-3, 2000.
