FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jacksonville, Florida, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 12, 2010 -- A tragedy occurred for one Jacksonville family Friday afternoon, June 11. A pickup truck driver was northbound on the ramp to State Road 9A, when he exited the entrance ramp near the University of North Florida and drove into a pond.

Almost immediately a man in a car behind the pickup truck who witnessed the accident pulled over. Then another car with two other Good Samaritans also pulled over and all three immediately got a tire iron, broke the rear window of the truck and retrieved the man as the truck sank.

They performed CPR on the man who was taken to Shands Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries. His family reports to News4jax that he later died.

The older man had a wristband indicating he wore a pacemaker and his family says he had a heart attack. The Good Samaritans were able to revive him after performing CPR, at least for a short while. At least the man’s two children had time to visit him in the hospital before he passed.

Dive teams arrived at the scene after the Good Samaritans had rescued the driver, and they pinpointed the location of the truck which by this time was underwater.

Kudos to the three Good Samaritans identified as Jake Solochek, Jimmy Kirsch and Luke Jamaiel. They did the right thing at the right time, did it well and almost saved a life. The family is very grateful.
