FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Los Angeles, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 15, 2012 -- Steeped in musical tradition and awash with rays of positivity and hope is one of Jamaica’s latest rising stars, Potcovah. A lifelong artist and a truly dedicated soul to the reggae world, this up and comer is finally unleashing his debut album onto the world, Mic and Me. Produced with his wife, Regina C, and featuring a veritable who’s who of the grassroots reggae movement, Potcovah’s largely anticipated record is his first calling card to the world.

Born and bred in an area of Jamaica known as the Waterhouse, Samuel Shields (AKA Potcovah) grew up in a family of musicians, including his Uncle-in-law Ras Michael who has performed around the globe. Known for running home after school and checking to see what his mother was making for dinner by looking inside the pots and pans, his friends dubbed him “Potcovah,” and a young star was born. Starting off with the Niyabengi drums and eventually playing venues around Jamaica such as the Skate Land and Bamboo Lawn, Shields quickly continued his career after relocating to Washington DC.

Creating an eclectic, exciting blend of reggae, hip hop and world tunes, Potcovah has thrived throughout the DC metro area, playing clubs and venues such as The Club House, The Palace, Ras Lounge, The Turntable Night Club and many more. While drawing comparisons to artists such as Capleton, Fanton Mojah, Sizzler, Bushman, Jah Cure, Mavado and Ziggy Marley, he continued to draw upon his influences while creating his epic 19-track debut.

Digitally released on January 30, 2012, Mic and Me is a celebration of Potcovah’s commitment and love for music and every one of his listeners. Self-produced along with his wife and fellow musician, Regina C, the album also features other rising artists such as R.O.B., Mikey Squad, DJ Ron, Daddy P, Englishman and Cadillac Fats. Physical copies of the album are set to hit stores on February 24, signaling Shields’ official arrival to the major reggae market.

Working with promoter Amha Baraka, Potcovah is slated to kick off a tour in April, designed to promote and spread the words of positivity and love within Mic and Me throughout DC and beyond. In the meantime, the tireless singer-songwriter is already inking new material and preparing to release “My Girl Yah Pretty” and “Hide and Seek” as the new singles from his forthcoming second album.

Streaming audio, photos and further information is available on Potcovah’s official MySpace, Facebook and ReverbNation pages. Check back often for more information on upcoming tour dates, and Mic and Me is available from digital retailers such as iTunes and CD Baby now.
