Leverenz, MD, chair of the Lewy Body Dementia Association’s Scientific Advisory Council, will be interviewed on the popular “Coping with Caregiving” Internet radio program on Saturday, August 27, 2011. Dr. Leverenz will be discussing the challenges in diagnosing Lewy body dementia, the second most common form of dementia in the elderly, after Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Leverenz is Director of Clinical Research for Pacific Northwest Udall Center, and investigator in the University of Washington Alzheimer's Research Center and Veteran’s Administration-based Parkinson's Disease Research, Education and Clinical Center. He is a Professor of Neurology, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at University of Washington School of Medicine. He has been a member of the LBDA’s Scientific Advisory Board since 2004. Dr. Leverenz’s research has focused for over 20 years on the Lewy body dementias examining both the clinical characteristics and also the underlying brain changes associated with the distinctive symptoms seen in people with LBD.
