James Hooks Commits 'Suicide'; Entrepreneur Writes Stunning Critique on Black America

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 29, 2009 -- He has owned and operated companies in the entertainment, real estate, and consulting industries. Now, James Hooks is looking to operate on black culture in his upcoming book, 'Suicide: How Modern Black Culture Is Destroying Black American Progress' .

In 'Suicide' , Mr. Hooks deals with the change in direction in African-American culture, from the progressive civil rights movement of the 1950's and 60's to the materialism and lack of educational standards of today. He also tackles what he calls "Obamanoxiousness," a character trait of blacks who celebrate the election of America's first African-American president with a sense of entitlement as opposed to a sense of accomplishment.

By naming his book Suicide , set to be released in May 2010, Mr. Hooks points to the downfall of African-American culture entirely as self-driven, and the blame lies solely on their own feet - particularly taking aim at such African-American pop culture icons as 50 Cent and Souljah Boy Tell 'Em.

"We need to take accountability for the state of our communities," said Mr. Hooks, himself an African-American, from his luxury Las Vegas suite during a photo shoot for the book's cover. "What I hope to accomplish with the book is to make young black people stand up in the mirror and take notice at where they are, and where they could be."

And while a mock cover has been revealed on his site at www.jameshooks.com, Mr. Hooks reveals that the final cover will be what gets people to pick it up.

"Any book with a naked man on the front is certain to cause controversy," he continues, "but a book with a naked man covered in blood pointing a loaded gun to his head? That's what 'Suicide' is about. And that's the story we are telling here."

With a shocking title, stunning imagery, and a final cover (as yet revealed) proven to both shock and suspend, 'Suicide: How Modern Black Culture Is Destroying Black American Progress' will prove to get readers involved.
