Some of the treasures are the 1897 original applications for the UDC. These applications describe the service of their father or grandfather that served in the Confederate Army in their own hand. Some actually have the "service" written in the by the soldier himself. Included is an application from a guard who served at the recently discovered Camp Lawton Prison Camp in Magnolia Springs......Keep in mind this was in their own handwriting as they certainly did not have the benefit of ancestry.com or Internet.
Another exceptional treasure is a ORIGINAL Muster Roll from the Thompson Guard, Company F, 10th Georgia Infantry of the Army of Northern Virginia, Robert E. Lee Commanding Officer.
Ida Evans Eve UDC Chapter Charter is among the papers that will be saved for posterity. The Thompson's Chapter's Scrapbooks, Journals, Minutes, some dating to 1906, will be archived and preserved for history.
