Janson Licenses Giant Screen Film to German Broadcaster

Janson Media announced today that it has licensed the title Vikings: Journey to New Worlds from its Giant Screen Film Collection to Germany’s Channel N24. The news based channel will hold Free-TV rights (terrestrial, cable, satellite) and Free Video On-Demand Rights of the documentary. Originally filmed for release in IMAX® theaters, Journey to New Worlds provides a comprehensive portrait of the Vikings, exploring their historical and cultural impact as well as their technological and scientific achievements. The Janson Media Giant Screen Films Collection includes other super-sized titles like Siegfried & Roy, Ocean Men and Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia, all of which have been down-converted to HDTV.

Vikings: Journey to New Worlds is a cinematic adventure through the lands that the Vikings settled and explored, including Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland. The Vikings historical ascent is believed to have begun at Lindisfarne, England in 793 A.D. with a raid on a Christian monastery. The image of marauding “heathens from the North” remains the common portrait of Vikings even today.
