Janwani Helps In Saving Hills Of Pune

November 29, 2010

There is a crucial need to save the hills in Pune in order to save the city and maintain overall ecological balance.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 29, 2010 -- Save Our Hills * Save Our City

In December 2005, the Pune Municipal Corporation approved an excellent Development Plan (DP) for the 23 merged villages which includes a Bio Diversity Park on the hills of Pune.

However, the Government of Maharashtra has till date not sanctioned the DP. It is believed that the State Government is now seriously considering scrapping the Bio Diversity Park and allowing for 4% construction on our hills which will lead to more and more construction.

Janwani strives to save these bio diversity parks... though a strong people initiation, support, ideation and a solution based approach is required....

Here is a quick update for all on the present scenario of hills in Pune:

What are the benefits of the proposed Bio Diversity Park?
* It will provide clean fresh air to Pune which is already one of the most polluted cities in India.
* It will provide beautiful open spaces for walks and recreation.
* It will provide many other benefits which will help to make Pune a 'model' Indian and Asian city.

Who benefits from the Bio Diversity Park?
All the people of Pune - our families, friends, neighbors and fellow citizens.

Who would benefit most if building construction on the hills is allowed and the Bio Diversity Park is scrapped?
The small but highly influential politician-cum-builder lobby, who illogically argues that the Biodiversity Park will encourage proliferation of slums!!

Will all existing buildings on the hills be removed if the Bio Diversity Park is developed?
Of course not, all buildings built on the hills prior to December 31, 2002, will remain.

…Let's jointly make an effort to conserve the hills in Pune.
