In the presence of HH Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and a group of ministers and Arab ambassadors to the UAE, Jawad Al Redha, Microsoft Gulf’s Head of Government Interface for Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Small and Mid Market Solutions and Partners (SMS&P) Business Development, was awarded a Gold Medal of Merit in outstanding accomplishments by Tatweej Academy in recognition of his great efforts towards IPR protection. Al Redha was given the recognition during an awards ceremony held at the Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa, Dubai.
Al Redha has been an integral part of Microsoft Gulf’s region-wide efforts to protecting intellectual property rights. He has over 12 years of extensive experience in promoting IPR and working in close coordination with various Arab governments in the region. He has been actively promoting the importance of using original software through the launch of several fruitful awareness campaigns across the region. In recent months Al Redha has been involved in a series of IPR protection related initiatives, including joint efforts with the UAE Ministry of Justice, UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Emirates IPR Association. He has also been working closely with the Government of Sharjah to promote IPR protection among the emirate’s business sector.
Commenting on the award, Jawad Al Redha said, “I am honoured by this recognition from Tatweej. This award inspires me to strive even harder to tackle software piracy and violation of intellectual property rights. Our commitment within Microsoft remains strong and we are dedicated to working with government officials to support the use of original content. My achievements would not have been possible without the support I have received from the team at Microsoft Gulf and the genuine commitment of the regional governments.”
Dr Rifaat Al Faouri, Director General of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development of the Arab League, and Mr. Pierre Mokarzel, founder and president of “Tatweej” Academy, both said “Jawad’s sincere efforts that have gone a long way in creating much needed awareness about the importance of IPR protection in the UAE and the region.” They added, “He thoroughly deserves this recognition and we look forward to supporting the initiatives he is undertaking.”
