While Jennifer Carroll did not personally address the congregation about her running as Lt. Governor of Florida, Bishop McKissick, Jr. highlighted some of her accomplishments in his introduction and met with her in private.
During that private meeting, Jennifer wowed Bishop McKissick, Jr. with her legislative achievements during her eight years of service as a Florida Legislature, including, The Florida Black Business Investment Act and the “Live The Dream” License Plate.
The Florida Black Business Investment Act recreated the Florida Black Business Investment Board (BBIB) as a non- profitable public-private-partnership to evaluate the needs of black business enterprises and aid in their development.
The "Live the Dream" Specialty License Plate pays tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The proceeds from the sale of the plate will go to four worthwhile causes; The Sickle Cell Disease Association of Florida (provides education and research), March of Dimes (fight infant mortality), The Community Partnership for Homeless (to improve state homelessness), and The Florida’s Association of Healthy Start Coalitions (to fight birth defects among low income citizens).
Bishop McKissick was extremely impressed said, “Wow, this is something that must be talked about in the communities, people need to know, this is absolutely incredible.”
