Jeremey Swartz running for Ohio Congressional District 9
Jeremy Swartz announced his candidacy for the U.S. Congress for the state of Ohio. He will be running as a Libertarian candidate.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 25, 2010 --
OREGON, Ohio, Feb. 17-Jeremy Swartz is officially announcing his bid for the US House of Representatives. He is running for the District 9 seat, currently held by Marcy Kaptur.
Mr. Swartz was originally running for the US Senate as an Independent until joining the Libertarian Party. His decision to run for Kaptur’s seat comes after careful consideration of where he can have the greatest impact for Ohioans and specifically his fellow residents of District 9.
Mr. Swartz had this to say about joining the Libertarian Party, “Our current two-party system is broken. The two major parties have lost focus of what they are elected to do; represent the American People. They have gotten side tracked by Democrat agenda vs. Republican agenda and made both parties irrelevant. It has become more about winning elections rather than governing through the will of the people.” Mr. Swartz went on to say, “What the people want should not be secondary. This attitude of “we know best” has got to end. In 1992, Ohioans passed issue 2, which set term limits for U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives from Ohio. The people of Ohio voted to limit Senators to two terms and Representatives to four terms. 2,897,123 Ohio voters said yes, we want term limits and 1,476,461 voters said no. The people passed the issue. Eighteen years later and Marcy Kaptur is still running. The Supreme Court deemed it unconstitutional, however, the people of Ohio still voiced their position and in my opinion it would be graceful to limit ourselves which is why if elected I would only seek four terms.”
Mr. Swartz will be at the board of elections on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at twelve o’clock noon, to file his candidacy papers.
Mr. Swartz had this to say about his candidacy, “I am seeking the office of United States Congressman to return the control of the Federal Government to the People, uphold the Constitution, and reduce the out of control spending we have seen in the past several years. My goal is to stop the train wreck we have all been watching in Washington; which is the direct result of a progressive agenda being forced upon the American People which conflicts with the true wants and needs of the American People. Time and time again our representatives have proven that when push comes to shove, they will set-aside the will of the people and replace it with an agenda which serves their personal agenda or the agenda of lobbyists or special interest groups.”
Mr. Swartz will be holding several town hall meetings in the next several weeks throughout District 9. For more information on these meetings, you can visit www.swartzforohio.com and follow the Swartz for Congress campaign on Facebook by becoming a fan of Swartz for United States Congress.
