Jesse Willms To Give 1,000 Toys To Needy Children In Edmonton

Internet entrepreneur Jesse Willms has set the goal of giving away 1,000 toys to impoverished children in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Canada -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Oct 5, 2010 -- This Christmas, Internet entrepreneur Jesse Willms will play Santa Claus to children in need by giving away 1,000 toys to impoverished children in Edmonton.

“Christmas when I was growing up was always a joyous time, but I know it's not that way for every family,” Willms said. “When parents are struggling simply to put food on the table, they aren't able to provide their children with the gifts that help make Christmas special. I want to help bring some Christmas spirit into their lives.”

Jesse David Willms is a noted Internet entrepreneur turned philanthropist. He started making money online when he was 16 years old; by the time he was 22 he had launched several successful companies. This summer he was inspired by the philanthropy of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett to start giving back to the community.

“My Christmas toy giveaway is part of my larger goals to help the community be a better place,” Willms said. “Alberta is my home, but I also support many charities that help the global community.”

When he decided to become a philanthropist, Willms wanted to focus his efforts on charities that help women, children and victims of natural disasters. “Children are the most vulnerable members of society,” Willms said. “Poverty can often rob them of what most of us took for granted in our childhood.”

Willms said he is still working out the logistics of how he is going to give the toys away, and will make a new announcement once all of the details are in place. “It's a tricky thing to do,” Willms said. “You have to make sure the presents are going where they are truly needed the most. Poverty can often be hidden in our cities and suburbs, because many people are too proud to admit when they are in need.”

Charities that Willms has given money to over the last few months include:

The Kiva Foundation
World Vision
• Big Brothers/Big Sisters Of Canada
• The Breast Cancer Research Fund
• The Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund
Boston Children's Hospital
• The Pajama Program
