CHARLOTTE N.C., May 19, 2011 -– Jim Stanley of Duke Energy and Bob Dooley of Balfour Beatty Construction are co-chairing the American Heart Association’s Greater Charlotte Heart Walk. The walk is a fundraiser for My Heart. My Life. , a community wellness initiative launched in 2010. Funds will support cardiovascular disease and stroke research and education.
Balfour Beatty Construction supports the American Heart Association and its annual fundraising events. In 2010, Balfour Beatty Construction employees stepped out for heart disease and stroke awareness at the annual walk and plan to have great support again this year. “It is very important to give back to the community, and our company believes in setting examples that promote health and wellness,” said Bob Dooley, senior vice president of Balfour Beatty Construction.
Duke Energy has a focus on the wellness of its employees and participates in the Greater Charlotte Heart Walk each year raising more than $147,000 in 2010.
“At Duke Energy, we are committed to improving the quality of life in our communities.” said Jim Stanley, senior vice president, Power Delivery at Duke Energy.
The Walk, which will be held on Sept. 17 uptown, expects to raise $1.55 million for lifesaving cardiovascular research and education to fight our nation’s No. 1 killer.
