FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) September 12, 2011 -- Dr. Jim Wilson of Raytheon’s Advanced Product Center will discuss the thermal design considerations for avionics and defense electronics at the coolingZONE Business and Technology Summit, October 5-6, 2011 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Avionics and defense electronics are continuing to add functionality and features. Thermal design engineers are tasked to devise efficient thermal management approaches with minimum weight, volume, and cost. As a result the period required for new thermal management technology can be extensive, and research is needed at the nano and micro scale levels.
This presentation will consider some of the current research at these small scales. The goals of this research are ultimately more efficient thermal packaging as well as the ability to manage high heat flux levels. Challenges and opportunities for innovative research related to the avionics and defense thermal management field will also be described.

At Raytheon, Dr. Wilson has been responsible for phased array radar thermal management with topics ranging from thermal design at the microwave integrated circuit level, and directed research for advanced thermal interface materials. He has been a popular speaker at previous coolingZONE conferences.
The coolingZONE Summit is being held October 5-6, 2011 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel located on the historic Charles River that separates the cities of Cambridge and Boston. In this inspiring venue, the coolingZONE Summit gathers together thermal management experts to share their latest developments
