Career Coach Hallie Crawford Says Executing Specific Career Goals is Key

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) April 8, 2011 -- ATLANTA, GA – April 8, 2011 – According to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, it might be getting better out there. In February the agency issued a report showing that payroll employment was up by 192,000. While the unemployment rate still hung around the 8.9 percent mark, there were reports of job gains.

Despite this mildly good news, for many job hunters who have been seeking employment for months, and in some cases, years, mustering the enthusiasm to tackle the job market may have waned. That’s when setting and accomplishing tangible career goals can help bolster a recession weary job seeker, according to Hallie Crawford, Certified Career Coach and founder of Create Your Career Path.

“Setting goals is an exercise that enables job seekers to crystallize a career path,” explains Crawford. “However, they need to be ‘smart’ goals that are measurable, realistic and within a set timeframe. People often slow down on their goals because they’re trying to accomplish too much all at once. Then they become overwhelmed and quit.”

To stay motivated in a sluggish job market Crawford recommends:

• Break career goals into smaller action steps that aren’t so overwhelming
• Visualize being offered the job that you want

• Identify obstacles to achieving career goals and determine ways to overcome them

U.S. companies continuing to project increases in headcount in the coming months may be the best motivation of all to workers wanting to land a dream job.
