Joe Nuzzolo and Salvador Dali

He has sold nearly 10,000 authentic Dalí works, including oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, limited edition graphics and sculptures. He is solely responsible for building the largest known private collection of Dalí in the world. A collection numbering over 1100 works that includes, paintings, drawings, sculptures and graphics.

The bond that Mr. Nuzzolo shares with his clients comes from his willingness to expend endless amounts of time and energy to secure for them a valued collection. Another of Mr. Nuzzolo’s colleagues is Mr. Marshall Rousseau Director Emeritus of the Salvador Dalí Museum in Saint Petersburg, Florida, who said of Mr. Nuzzolo, “Since my retirement as Executive Director of the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida I have worked with him on a number of projects and have been impressed with his knowledge of the market for Dalí prints and originals. “Now it’s my problem” This is usually what a client hears when they come to Joseph Nuzzolo after they have been sold a Dalí work of questionable authenticity.

Mr. Nuzzolo’s expertise in Salvador Dalí has been of great aide to those that have encountered fraudulent works of art. He has consulted with both local and federal law enforcement authorities and has even assisted the U.S. Attorney’s office with the sentencing of a known criminal. A Dalí collectors advocate, Mr. Nuzzolo has worked tirelessly to procure restitution for those who have purchased Dalí works that are not authentic. Some of victims he has helped have described him as “pit bull” when it comes to getting their money back. He has interacted with credit card companies and when necessary, has involved law enforcement authorities to make his clients whole. All of this work is done free of charge to help victims in need and maintain the integrity of the Dalí market.
When a victim contacts a law enforcement authority, they will often refer Mr. Nuzzolo to help them with their cause. A collector in Connecticut wrote, “Upon contacting Federal Law Enforcement Authorities, I was referred to Joseph Nuzzolo of the Salvador Dalí Society. I was told that Mr. Nuzzolo would provide authentication reports for my works of art so that I may receive restitution if they were deemed incorrect.”

When a contractor in Ohio purchased what he thought was a work by Salvador Dalí from a television shopping channel, he felt it was a bargain. After showing it to Mr. Nuzzolo he was informed that it was a fake. Instead of leaving the client to navigate his way around the representations made by the seller, Mr. Nuzzolo took it upon himself to get the client all of his money back. He tracked down the original source of the work and provided the information to the Federal Authorities, in attempt to stop others from being ripped off. Even though the process took months the client received a full refund. When it was over the client wrote, “It was a struggle to get our money back, but with the help of Joe, we finally got everything resolved.”
