http://www.johnhuddle.com John believes that the communities in HD 55 face challenges that demand leadership. Residents face challenges unique to rural communities. The unemployment rate exceeds the State average. Residents have uneven and sometimes nonexistent access to services, such as transportation, veteran’s services, health care, public safety, justice, water and other utilities and higher education. Many residents complain of local and state government that is burdensome and insensitive to their needs. John is running to address issues of concern to rural middle class families.
“We need someone in Salem that will fight for the people, not corporate Wall Street or the status quo!” said John Huddle.
John brings many years of public service to the table. He served for several years in the U.S. Army, active duty and Reserves. Now semi-retired, John was an educator, administrator and school psychologist serving rural communities for most of his career. John also served as an advocate for civil rights, special education and special needs adoption. Most recently, John advocated for veteran’s issues, consumer affairs, land use, ground-water protection and the proper application of pesticides. He has a record of accomplishment fighting for the individual against corporate interests or insensitive government.
“I still believe the words of Daniel Webster, who said: ’government made by the people, made for the people and answerable to the people.” said John. “I believe that a legislator is a public servant, answerable to the people, not the corporate boardroom. I am committed to the needs of the people of HD 55 and serving them in Salem.”
House District 55 is a huge district with many distinct communities. John is very aware that those communities are diverse in needs and interests although they are all predominately rural. John states: “I know each community is different. I will be there to listen hard to what the people of each community have to say. How else can you serve them?”
