John Rogers Photo Archives presents historic Conlon Collection baseball photo collection at Openhouse Gallery, Monday September 19

John Rogers Photo Archives hosts an invitation-only event that showcases Charles Conlon’s photography of early-20th century baseball + famed artist Adam Port's sports paintings at Openhouse Gallery.

New York, NY – September 19, 2011 –John Rogers Photo Archives owner of the Complete Sporting News photo archives will present this event. Adam Port has been invited along with appearances of sport and entertainment celebrities, thanks to Martin Gover with his Momentum Sports Management, Inc. The Conlon and Port originals will be up for sale, while the event is a good chance to see the big names of sport it is also for a charitable cause. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Ronald McDonald House of New York, an organization that helps to provide a support system along with encouragement and nurturing for parents of children with cancer.
Charles Conlon was a New York based photographer who documented baseball through the art form of photography from 1904-1942. Colon has captured some of the world’s greatest moments of baseball – one in particular is Ty Cobb sliding into third during the 1909 season. He has been able to capture four decades of players whether they are major league stars or common players, from Hilltop Park, the Polo Grounds, Yankee Stadium, Washington Park, and Ebbets Field.
Adam Port, a Long Island based artist whose real life paintings require a double take with its captivating realism. Port has created work for some of sports greatest athletes Michael Jordan, Ray Lewis, and Carmelo Anthony to name a few.
Openhouse Gallery is the New York pop-up team with spaces at 201 Mulberry + 19 Kenmare in Soho.
