Journeys Within Honored With Travel+Leisure 2011 Global Vision Award

Siem Reap, Cambodia, October 21, 2011 – Andrea Ross, Journeys Within CEO, announced today that Journeys Within has received the 2011 Global Vision Award for Local Outreach by Travel+Leisure. Celebrating its 7th year, the Global Vision Awards honor companies and organizations that are making a difference in the world through travel. Details are included in the magazine’s November issue, currently on newsstands.

“The list of past recipients and those we are listed with this year are exemplary organizations and I am so proud to be in their company and to be recognized by a leading publication such as Travel+Leisure. Journeys Within was awarded Travel+Leisure’s Global Vision Award in the category of “Local Outreach.” Journeys Within was described as a ‘boutique tour company with a big heart’ and highlighted the many projects Journeys Within supports through Journeys Within Our Community and donations from amazing guests and travelers.

Travel+Leisure’s eighteen 2011 Global Vision award winners were chosen by an esteemed panel of judges, including José Andrés, chef and owner of ThinkFoodGroup; Bonnie Burnham, President and CEO of the World Monuments Fund; Lauren Bush, cofounder, creative director, and CEO of FEED Projects; Megan Epler Wood, executive director of the Planeterra Foundation; Premal Shah, president of kiva.org; Dr. Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize-winning economist; and Kate Stohr and Cameron Sinclair, founders of Architecture for Humanity.

The winners are recognized in five categories—conservation, sustainability, preservation, development, and leadership—according to Travel+Leisure they, “…offer journeys that enrich the destinations you travel through.”
