December 18, 2010 Beauty news in Cincinnati,Ohio, United States of America

I received an advanced copy of The Soul of My Sister...Love Never Ends and I've moved this writer from freshman status to senior with a dean’s list degree with her latest release.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cincinnati, Ohio, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) December 18, 2010 -- What I like about author, Loni Webb is that when you talk to her she refers to herself not as a writer but as the editor of a small online magazine, E'LON Couture Magazine.

Well, first there is nothing small about this online magazine. She's created a beautiful, online magazine for black women that’s not about gossip and the trivial. But, it’s full of wonderful surprises that show the strength, grace, character and beauty of black women.

The magazine itself has created a Who's Who line up of contributing writers who have penned words. Featured designers who have had their collections showcased (such as Carolina Herrera, Byron Lars, B Michael, Korto Momolu, David Tlale) are just to name a few. The magazine’s editorial content focuses on business, the arts, science and education. It’s included political powerhouses in interviews from Michelle Obama to the female CEO's of the country's major Urban League Affiliates.

But this article is not about the magazine, even though I have become a huge fan of the magazine (and I have been given a sneak peek into the 2011 celebrity and designer line up) and I placed my subscription.

No this article is about this new writer who I hope won’t give up the craft of writing anytime soon. Yes, her first book was a simple 'how to' fix our communities. And by some peoples standards (her critics), was much too simplistic. But reading, Lack Does Not Live Here you get the understanding from Webb that we've made the art of living far too complicated. I'm sure there will be a second edition of Lack Does Not Live Here and Webb and her publishing company will improve upon those things that book critics look too closely at (rather than looking at the books meaning).

But it's Webb's second and third book respectively that allow you to see the growth of this writer. From her characters to her dialogue, her second work, which she served as co-writer with Dr. Gladys Hankins (GiGi Gossett), allowed Webb to create characters from a cosmetics line she had developed (and which as she described, "failed but one in which I am re-creating as I re-create myself and is based on friends I grew up with"). This second book called A TWISY Girls Mystery...The Case of the Dropped Pearl is written in the style of those favorite books of many of our childhoods such as Nancy Drew.

This book with wholesome characters is about perseverance, friendship, trust and honor. While reading the book I was transported back to my childhood of sitting on the back porch curled up with a good Nancy Drew mystery novel, some cookies and a glass of ‘red’ Kool-aid (Yes, I had to go to that memory). All I can say about A TWISY Girl Mystery…The Case of the Dropped Pearl , is that it’s a good read for any young girl and includes book club questions in the back of the book. The book has its own page on the E’LON Couture Cosmetics website.

The book is the first in a series that these writers hope spark the eyes of someone over at Oprah's new network or even Tyler Perry or perhaps Disney or Nickelodeon. "These are African-American girls who have hopes, dreams, and talents and live in wholesome loving families,” Webb says. "What we are hoping is that at some point we can reverse this trend of how our daughters, our children are seen in the media," she goes on to say.

All of her books have this same positive theme about black love and love of self. Her third book, The Soul of My Sister…Love Never Ends was a marvelous read. Set both in modern day Cincinnati, Ohio and in the Egypt of the 15th dynastic period (Nefertiti and her husband Akhenaten), it’s full of intimate details and the biggest what if involving the life and love of this great Queen. And she has created a modern day love story between her two characters Shari and Greg that intertwine in two different centuries the lives of both sets of lovers. Her characters are strong black women and strong black men as well. Her description of the Egyptian dynasty makes you feel as if you were almost there. You can tell that this ‘writer’ has done some significant research. But what will give you the most, on your seat, let me find out what she says about this, is her theory about the original Bible and the original Jews.

For example, she takes you through a characters life who was a nephew of the Pharaoh and whose name is Mosis (from the Egyptian Pharaoh Thutmosis) who was asked by Nefertiti and her husband to take this original book (The Book of Coming Forth by Day and By Night) across the river during the great war between upper and lower Egypt.

I loved this book. Usually history books are boring. But this modern day take on the Ten Commandments is a beautiful read. From the description of the clothes to the elegant baths, it’s made me want to research more of the history of the Queens and Kings of Egypt. This books helps you understand why Love Never Ends. ###
