December 8, 2010 African American Interests news in Cincinnati,Ohio, United States of America

So how should we take this down to earth, in your face, let me call you out and while I'm at it I'm gonna put my own 'stuff on jump-street approach to prosperity? I think refreshingly honest.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cincinnati, Ohio, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) December 8, 2010 -- When I visited the website of Loni Webb, I came across a beautiful, talented business owner who had a mission to change lives. When I read the ‘About Us’ page on her site, I wondered when she had time to write a book? What I came to find out from her was that she has actually written three books.

Although Lack Does Not Live Here is the first to be published and certainly the one that puts her personal mission clearly in focus, it was and is not her first book. Her first book, due to be released in the coming weeks, The Soul of My Sister is a drama about unconditional love, life and the gorgeous Queen Nefertiti and a modern day black heroine who must unravel an ancient curse to save her love and Nefertiti’s life (if you know anything about this ancient Queen you know they have never found her tomb). As she described this book to me I knew I wanted to read this new book from this freshman author as well.

Her third book, which is to be released this week, is actually a collaborative effort. Written by Dr. Gladys Hankins (GiGi Gossett) and Loni Webb, the book is based on the characters from her company’s teen cosmetics line called TWISY. TWISY which stands for The World Is Yours was created and is mass marketed to young girls ages 10 – 14 (includes flavored lip glosses and colorful eye shades). The TWISY Girls Mystery – The Case of the Dropped Pearl is the first book in this on-going series that showcases the ingenuity, talents and friendship of these young mystery solvers.

But, then there is this author herself. When I sat down to interview her, this beautiful grandmother or Nana as she refers to herself, was dressed in black jeans, her favorite Louboutin boots as she pointed out, and a long-sleeve white cotton shirt. She was comfortable and at ease, quiet and reserved. Until, we started to talk about black women. She talked about her hometown of Detroit and what it’s like to go home and see so many boarded up buildings. She wanted to buy every building she said and put people to work. But she knew that was impossible. So the next best thing was to show her sisters how, "now is the only time we have to save our lives".

What you wouldn't know is that this former fashion model, makeup artist, beauty and fashion junkie, magazine publisher and editor isn't trying to make the New York Times Bestseller List. Surrounded by awards, degrees and diplomas in her home office you get a sense of how smart she is. She holds graduate degree in Psychology and the Humanities. What she's trying to do she says, is to get her sisters to live powerful lives. "We give up our power willingly when we live in debt. We can't make right choices when we live that way. We make choices and decisions out of desperation. I really want to help change that."

"Lack Does Not Live Here...The REAL Principles of Prosperous Living for Black Women not only admonishes us in a sisterly way, but it gives us real techniques...like the money quiz, or the creation of a budget that you can really understand and wrap your arms around and it gives us principles and affirmations that help us change our mindsets about money and move from lack mindsets to prosperous mindsets.

This book is a true 'must read' for its humor, its 'quit being stuck on stupid' (no I'm not talking about you but that idea - like going to the check-cashing place) mindset you have to solving your emergencies.

“Lack Does Not Live Here” is a wonderful entry into the prosperity, faith, spirituality genre of teaching. Ms. Webb has weaved the teachings of Christ and the Church into everyday life principles of money management. She even dares to chastise the misappropriated act of tithing. “Tithing is a principle about order, giving and saving. But we have turned it into salaries for pastors and paying the churches overhead,“ she says.

She says in the book that she is not chastising the church, she just wants people to understand how the original text of tithing was laid down in the law and that if done correctly according to God’s own principles was set up to help his children prosper.

According to Loni Webb, the Tanakh (which is Hebrew is a name used in Judaism for the canon of the Hebrew Bible. The Tanakh also known as the Masoretic Text is also incorporated into the Christian Old Testament. But in order to understand the entire act of tithing we should read and understand the text.

“Remember, Christ said he didn’t come to abolish the law (the writings of Moses) but to fulfill or carry them out,” she says.

Well her book has so intrigued me to want to know more about this myself and it makes me want to live better. If there is an easier way so that the word struggle is no longer a part of my vocabulary, I’m all for it. Ms. Webb has written an intriguing and approachable book that just may get me to stop getting my weave done and using my money on non-appreciable assets.
