(Free-Press-Release.com) August 10, 2010 --
Quarterback Academy (QBA), which provides quarterback training and qb camps to aspiring athletes, closed out the 2010 off-season camp tour with one of the strongest Quarterback competitions in the country. “We're really excited to get this competition in the books for 2010, we had 120 quarterbacks at the skills camp and 60 compete in the competition.” says Will Hewlett, Director of Player Development and Camp Director. “The competition had representation from Oklahoma, Virginia, Texas and Nebraska to name a few states, as well as a strong representation from local Florida Quarterbacks. John Wolford from Jacksonville had a strong showing and proved that he will be one of the top QB’s in the country in the near future. Alton Meeks and Colby Brown both burst their way onto the national scene with very strong performances as well. All three young quarterbacks will be household names on a national scale not to long from now.”
For the 11th and 12th division, Sawyer Kollmorgan, Jenks Trojan Quarterback from Oklahoma, delivered an outstanding performance taking home the top QB award for the entire event. Sawyer who has led his team to two straight State Championships, again showed his amazing ability to slice up the competition and come out on top. Colton Schulenberg from Illinois was second place followed by local star Tony Diviney from Tampa, Florida. Both Schulenberg and Diviney displayed masterful skill level and poise during the final Quarterback Gauntlet.
“As a Quarterback Coach, it was fun to watch all three upper classman rise to the occasion and pull away from the rest of the competitors. They all put their game faces on and took care of business.”
Finishing out the other classes:
9th and 10th Grade
1st Jason Connella, NC
2nd Abe Clinch, NE
3rd Colby Brown, FL
8th grade and under
1st Jesse Rigsby, OH
2nd Brandon Krietemeyer, OH
3rd Colton Roe, VA
Jason Connella finished rated as one of the highest rated 10 graders in the country. Connella is slated to take over one of the top high school football programs in the country, Independence High school in North Carolina. Colton Roe, who played in the US Army 7th Grade All American game last year finished 3 overall, had a great showing during the final gauntlet. Both Rigsby and Krietemeyer traveled from Ohio to compete in the event and showed the Florida heat was not an issue. Rigsby finished 1st overall for the youth group. His fast ball and accuracy to the left ended up being the difference between Rigsby and Krientemeyer final score.
“We look forward to this competition growing and continuing to provide a platform for competition and exposure. We expect 2011 to be a big year for the Quarterback Academy and of our QBA trainer Quarterback.”
