(Free-Press-Release.com) October 4, 2009 -- Lemon Shark Press is pleased to announce the publication of JUNK AN' A PO by Kirby Wright on Amazon's Kindle.

The setting is tract housing off the slopes of Diamond Head, in the now trendy district of Kahala. The two sons of a Hawaiian attorney play a popular local game while waiting in the car outside Queen's Hospital. After a decade of infertility, their mother is close to giving birth.

The pressure of a third child is getting to the father. He orders his sons around as though they were his employees. When the younger boy has a stomach ache and can't eat dinner, the father interprets this as an act of defiance.

The boys feel that 'Daddy' is taking turns being one of three monsters: Dracula, Wolfman, and Frankenstein. The older boy is studying him for signs of a fourth monster—the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

KIRBY WRIGHT was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is a graduate of Punahou School in Honolulu and the University of California at San Diego. He received his MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, where he studied under the tutelage of Frances Mayes. Wright has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes and is a past recipient of the Ann Fields Poetry Prize, the Academy of American Poets Award, the Browning Society Award for Dramatic Monologue, and Arts Council Silicon Valley Fellowships in Poetry and The Novel. BEFORE THE CITY, his first book of poetry, took First Place at the 2003 San Diego Book Awards. Wright is also the author of the companion novels PUNAHOU BLUES and MOLOKA’I NUI AHINA, both set in Hawaii. He will be joining Pulitzer Prize winner Gary Snyder as Hawaii’s representative at the 2009 International Writers Conference in Hong Kong.
