(Free-Press-Release.com) February 9, 2012 -- Accounting and advisory firm Kabat, Schertzer, De La Torre, Taraboulos & Co. today announced that Elgin Polo has joined the firm as partner to lead the planned growth of its forensic accounting and business valuation practice.

In addition, the firm announced that it is has moved to larger office space in order to accommodate its strategic business expansion. Kabat, Schertzer, De La Torre, Taraboulos & Co.’s new 10,000-square-foot office is located at 9300 S. Dadeland Blvd, Suite 600, in Miami.

A seasoned forensic accountant with specialization in family and marital law, corporate matters and estate planning, Elgin Polo joins Kabat, Schertzer, De La Torre, Taraboulos & Co. from Morrison, Brown, Argiz, Farra, where he was a partner. Before this, he was a partner in the litigation support and business valuation department of Berenfeld, Spritzer, Shechter & Sheer. Earlier in his career, Polo was a tax supervisor and staff accountant at boutique firms in New York and South Florida.

Polo is a certified public accountant (CPA) licensed to practice in Florida and New York, and he holds distinctions as a certified valuation analyst (CVA) and an accredited in business valuation (ABV) professional. In addition, he is a Florida Supreme Court Family Mediator, a Collaborative Family Law Financial Professional and an associate member of the Florida Bar Association’s Family Law section. A frequent lecturer who leads continuing legal and accounting professional education courses, Polo also serves as an adjunct professor at Florida International University.

Active in professional pursuits, Polo is a member of the Board of Governors of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) and recently completed a one-year term as president of the organization’s Miami Downtown Chapter. In addition, he is a lifetime member of the FICPA Educational Foundation, which provides scholarships to accounting students throughout Florida. He is also a member of BNI’s Miami-Dade Chapter, where he serves as secretary and treasurer.

Polo holds a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in taxation from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Binghamton University in Vestal, N.Y.
