Kaj Neve, M.D. Board Certified in Psychiatry

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 3, 2012 -- Kaj Neve has a private practice in psychiatry at 865 West End Avenue, New York, NY. He treats the full range of adult psychiatric disorders and has special interests in psychopharmacology, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and complementary and alternative medicine. He emphasizes a collaborative approach to treatment and understanding the environmental and social context of a person’s illness.

Kaj Neve attended the American School in Japan and Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. He completed his medical education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine in 1976. He completed his Residency in Psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center and completed a Fellowship in Public Psychiatry at the New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University Medical Center. Prior to this, he completed a Residency in Family Practice at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY where he served as Chief Resident, 1978-1979 and was President of the Lutheran Medical Center Housestaff Association, 1977-1978.He completed a Clinical Externship in Family Therapy at Ackerman Institute in 1991. Since 1994, he has held an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University. Prior to this, he was Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 1986-1991.

Kaj Neve has been serving as Chief Psychiatrist on the Intensive Training Unit of the Residency Education and Training Program in Psychiatry at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, Queens Village, New York since 1990. He has taught and supervised psychiatry residents in the Residency Education and Training Program at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center from 1990 to the present. Prior to this he was employed as Assistant to the Clinical Director at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center and was Director of the Day Hospital at Morrisania Neighborhood Family Care Clinic. He started his psychiatric career as an Attending Psychiatrist on the Family Interaction Ward at Bronx Psychiatric Center, Bronx, NY.

Kaj Neve has received various awards and honors including, Teacher of the Year Award, Residency Education and Training Program in Psychiatry, Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, 2005; Workforce Champions Award Winner as a member of the New York State Office of Mental Health PSYCHES Team, 2004; and Teacher of the Year Award, Residency Education and Training Program in Psychiatry, Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, 1999.

Kaj Neve has obtained board certifications from the American Board of Family Practice and American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is licensed to practice Psychiatry in New York. He has professional society memberships in the American Psychiatric Association, American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology and the World Federation for Mental Health.
