The 2012 Kia Rio and Soul are two of the newest car models created by Kia; making a total of nine since 2009. Kia is expanding and creating more car models. Kia is currently manufacturing vehicles in West Point, Ga; and are able to produce up to 360,000 vehicles a year. According to Tom Loveless, vice president of sales, Kia is the fastest growing brand in America.
Kia has a 3.9 percent market share, but this is the 17th consecutive month of growth in its market share. With Kia getting residual valuations of its cars improved by 39 percent its models have the lowest cost of ownership of any brand selling cars in the United States.

The Kia Rio
The Rio is a subcompact car (also known as a B-segment car) comprised of 400,000 units, and by 2015 that number is expected to double since manufacturers are going to have to build smaller, lighter and less powerful cars in order to meet the corporate average fuel numbers that go into effect in 2016.
The car is about an inch longer, with the wheels pushed a bit out to the corners, increasing the cabin size. The interior has more soft-touch items and the design creates a horizontal focus that’s both aesthetically pleasing as well as making the interior appear even more spacious than it already is.
The Rio is available in both five door hatchback and a four door Sedan. The Rio uses 63 percent high-strength steel, something only luxury cars used not long ago. But now it moves energy around and away from the passenger compartment. There’s also a fair bit of sound damping in the Rio, making it much quieter than one would expect.
Because of work done to the suspension, including stiffer damping, the Rio offers a smooth drive without having bunches of bumps transmitting themselves directly to the seat of your pants.
The Rio comes in three trim levels:
1) The LX base model, which cost $13,600 and another $1,100 can be added to get automatic transmission. The Rio 5-door also comes with a standard rear spoiler to improve aerodynamics.
2) The EX is the volume model and includes standard Bluetooth and starts at $16,500. With this model, you get power door locks with keyless entry and a chrome front grille surround.
3) The SX trim starts at $17,700, and includes standard 17-inch wheels with 205/45R17 tires, fog lamps, LED accent lights and rear combination lamps, dual chrome exhaust tips, power-folding outside heated mirrors with turn signal indicators and, unique for the Rio 5-door, projector headlamps.
The Rio also features a sport-tuned suspension, larger front brakes, projection headlamps; as well as Kia’s UVO voice-activated infotainment system standard, which includes a 4.3-inch color touch screen and rear camera.
The Kia Soul
For those looking for an efficient and affordable compact car, the Kia Soul is definitely worthy of consideration. The base model comes with a 1.6- liter direct gasoline injection 4 cylinder engine which generates 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of peak torque.
For drivers who like a little more power, they have the option of choosing an all-new aluminum 2.0-liter engine that produces 164 horsepower and 149 pound-feet of peak torque instead of the standard engine.
With the standard engine, drivers will get an estimated 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. For those who choose the bigger engine unfortunately get 1 mpg less on the highway and two less in the city. Old school drivers will be happy to know that they have the option of a six speed manual transmission in addition to a six speed automatic one. The Soul also offers a 350 watt Infinity stereo sound system which is more than adequate to pump your music up. Is your interest piqued? Go check it out at http://garyromehyundai.com/.
