New York, NY – Starting today, kids from across the city are being invited to enter a contest being held on www.NoteStrokes.com to select the best 9/11 photos. The photos were taken by kids for a special project, called 91111 Moving Forward, commemorating the 10th anniversary year of 9/11. Over a hundred kids took photos that reflect the themes of the project: the value of moving forward and diversity.
The project, sponsored by VisiSound Technologies, a children’s multimedia software company, has won the support of a wide array of organizations including Chase Bank which is doing most of the printing for the project. The YWCA of New York participated extensively in the project. According to Dr. Tom Riedl, the company’s founder, “The project is a way to focus the city’s young on some important and positive messages related to 9/11. The project has already achieved this with all the photos the kids have taken.” Riedl continues, “And still more kids – hopefully lots of them – will be thinking about these themes as they vote on the photo artwork of the photographers. We believe this will benefit all of them in this special year.”
Prizes will be awarded to both the kids whose photos are chosen as well as those that pick the “Best” photos. The prizes include tickets to New York Yankee games in September, tickets to the Top of the Rock, and Gift Certificates to Hard Rock Café. The kids’ photos will also be displayed at various locations across the city, including at various Public Schools, at the Century21 Store near the World Trade Center site, and at the United Federation of Teachers Headquarters Building in lower Manhattan. The artwork will be on display for the month of September. The contest concludes on August 31.
