(Hollywood, CA) September 8, 2009- Celebrities “roll-a-strike” for Sickle Cell awareness at KiKi Shepard's 6th Annual Celebrity Bowling Challenge to benefit the programs of The K.I.S. Foundation, Inc., and the Dorothy H. Shepard Scholarship Fund on Friday, September 18, 2009 at PINZ Entertainment Center 12655 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604 hosted by KiKi Shepard.
The mission of KiKi's "Celebrity Bowling Challenge" is to raise awareness about Sickle Cell Disease -- an inherited, non-contagious blood disease that can be crippling, painful, and life threatening. The CBC stresses the need to educate the public about this fatal disease, and to stimulate continued dialogue about how it is spread, its debilitating effects, ways of prevention, and the need to get tested now.
Sponsored by Bank of America, Herbalife, Pickens/Wilson, Pinz Entertainment Center, Simply Alive!, Broadway Federal Bank, Elgin Charles of Beverly Hills, NoNegativepeople.com, and Yellow Rose, Inc. to benefit the programs of The K.I.S. Foundation, Inc, and the Dorothy H. Shepard Scholarship Fund. Guests will experience a lively 3-game bowling tournament designed for the novice and the bowling professional. Event highlights include: Red Carpet, live and silent auctions, raffles, onsite bone marrow registration and scholarship presentation to Dominque Elston, a Senior at Alabama State University majoring in Communications who suffers from SCD. The K.I.S. Foundation will also honor long-time supporters Glynn and JoAnn Turman & Art and Babe Evans for their work in the SCD community.
"I joined in the fight to find a universal cure and raise awareness about Sickle Cell Disease over 17 years ago, noted K.I.S. Foundation founder KiKi Shepard. It is only fitting that we hold our annual fundraiser which educates the community and brings awareness of Sickle Cell Disease during Sickle Cell Awareness month."
Levels of participation include: Teams $600 (includes 4 bowlers plus a celebrity); Individual bowlers $150; Non-bowlers $50. All proceeds are tax-deductible and will benefit the programs of The K.I.S. Foundation, Inc.
Sponsorship opportunities and tickets are still available.
