Angleton’s History

The city of Angleton was founded in the year 1890. It was established near the center of Brazoria County. According to some sources, the community was named Angleton in honor of an early developer, G.W. Angle. After a bitter fight, Angleton was chosen as the county seat over Brazoria in 1896. It was re-chosen by a county-wide election in 1913. Angleton was officially incorporated on November 12, 1912.
