KILLER IRS - WAGE GARNISHMENT / LEVY

• The taxpayer must have denied the tax liability or neglected the deadline that is outlined in both the written Notice and Demand for payment
• The IRS must send out a Final Notice of Intent to Levy and Notice of Your Right to a Hearing at least 30 days prior to the levy.

The taxpayer doesn’t actually have to receive the Notices prior to any collections actions are scheduled to begin. As long as the IRS sends out the collection letters to the last known address at the agency, they are acting within the confines of the law.
