There are many types of mold growing in many places every day. Mold is a naturally occurring substance- a fungus actually- which helps to turn over life in our world. Mold is not decay itself, but rather an organism which thrives on decay. It can be multi-cellular, or even be composed of one single cell in the spore stage. All types of life are suspect, and it doesn’t really matter if there is breath in that life or not. Unfortunately, it does not require life itself to live and thrive and multiply on it’s own. The only condition which mold requires is a little moisture, and a loose spore. A spore is an asexual reproductive structure- a microorganism which cannot be seen by the human eye.

Given these simple requirements, mold- if left unchecked- can wreak havoc to that which it attacks. Mold seems to appear of it’s own volition, often perplexing the person who finds it in unexpected places such as air vents or even on mattresses. Mold can grow in places unseen for years. This makes it important to developing periodic inspection routines of your home, so that you’re not caught unaware. Mold spores are everywhere, floating around as dust in the air. You can be assured that there are mold spores both outside and inside your home at any given time. Fortunately, there are solutions.
We are all accustomed to finding the occasional mold on a block of cheese or a loaf of bread. We usually throw the bread out or cut the mold off the cheese; no real harm done. What do we do though, when we discover (or are informed, as the case may be) mold in the most unexpected of places? Have you been told you have mold in your air vents? Maybe you’ve noticed mold on a wall in your home.

Mold can be prevented, and it can be stopped in it’s tracks (although not without some damage most likely to the surfaces it has had time to work on). If you’ve found mold in your home, you should know that there are methods for do it yourself mold removal which need to be undertaken immediately. You should be aware also that some molds are toxic, so be certain you are taking the precautions necessary for your own health when performing any diy mold removal tasks.
