The Grammy award-winning band, Kings of Leon were run off stage at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday night by pooping pigeons that refused to stop their aerial bombardment from the rafters.
The final straw was when a pigeon pooped into bassist Jared Followill’s mouth. The band managed to make it through three songs before they ran off, leaving about 12,000 fans in the dark. Shortly after the band high-tailed it from the crappy stage, an announcer told the angry crowd, “This show cannot go on. The situation is beyond our control.”
“I was hit by pigeons on each of the first three songs. We had 20 songs on the set list. By the end of the show, I would have been covered from head to toe,” Followill told CNN. "The last thing I was going to do was look up ... but if that was only a couple, we must have caught them right after a big Thanksgiving dinner."
The fans had no idea why the band ran from the stage until Jared’s brother, Nathan, the drummer for the band, posted on Twitter, “So sorry St. Louis. We had to bail, pigeons sh*tting in Jared’s mouth and it was too unsanitary to continue.”
Opening bands, The Postelles and The Stills toughed out the excremental bombardment to finish their sets. According to a statement from Live Nation, the concert’s promoter, refunds will be issued.
