The procedure uses follicular unit extraction—the removal of donor follicles one follicular unit at a time. Dr. Umar grafted these donor follicles from the nape of Tirosh’s neck because the hair there is most like eyebrow hair in density and length. (Leg hair is also an excellent donor source for eyebrow transplant.) He then implanted them one by one along the contour of the brow bone.

The procedure is done in one session; normally a long and tedious session, but worthwhile for its long-term results. Tirosh’s procedure took three hours, however, photographs immediately following surgery already show a vast difference from her previous tattoos.
