FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) October 18, 2011 -- LAUDERHILL, Fla. - (October 18, 2011) – He earned the title of “foremost anecdotist” and wrote a 1,000–word column six days a week for the New York Post that was featured in more than 100 newspapers nationwide. Now his son, Jeffrey Lyons, a renowned film critic in his own right, has continued Leonard Lyons’ tradition of wonderful storytelling in his newest book. He will share highlights with the public in his first South Florida book appearance on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 1:30 p.m. at Forest Trace, 5500 NW 69 Avenue, Lauderhill.

“Stories My Father Told Me: Notes From the Lyons Den” is an alluring tribute to legendary New York Post columnist Leonard Lyons. For 40 years, Lyons collected exclusive scoops for his column, “The Lyons Den,” by making daily rounds of restaurants and nightclubs and mingling with stars from all walks of life. Iconic personalities from his column ran the gamut, from artists, athletes and movie stars to politicians, musicians and writers. Organized chronologically by decade and celebrity and illustrated by 70 archival photos, “Stories My Father Told Me” shares fascinating little-known tales of the prominent newsmakers of the day.

“I was a fan of Leonard Lyons’ column and this book is proof that his talent lives on,” explained Stanley Rosenthal, owner’s representative of Forest Trace. “The book is nostalgia in its most entertaining form and I know everyone who comes to hear him will be mesmerized by Jeffrey Lyon’s talent for storytelling.”

The event, co-sponsored by ORT America-Florida region, is open to the public, though pre-registration is required by Oct. 28 due to space limitations and security. Admission is free, and signed copies of the book can be purchased for $35. For reservations, please call Kela at 954-572-1800 x 21.
