Kristen Nedopak's THE GEEKIE AWARDS Lands Award Artist; Deadline for Entries is March 1st.

January 23rd, 2013, Hollywood, CA: Geekie Awards creator Kristen Nedopak is pleased to announce world-renowned Character Artist and true geek Jorge Baeza as the designer of The Geekie Award, itself. The Geekies are a new awards show celebrating a multi-hyphenate culture of creators, artists and filmmakers. Over the past five years, the Geek Genre has gone mainstream, but within the Genre itself there are several niches and sub-sets of culture that need to be recognized in their own right.

"As a comic book fan, cartoon artist and all around Geek, it is a privilege to be a part of The Geekie Awards creative team. This one-of-a-kind event promises to be what every fanboy such as myself has always wanted to see and be a part of. It is yet another sign that the Geek will truly inherit the earth!" says, Jorge Baeza.

Jorge Baeza (a.k.a. Dr. Mutato) is a Graphic Designer / Illustrator from El Paso, TX. He is a self-confessed Sci-fi & Saturday morning cartoon buff. These interests have manifested themselves in publications such as œGeek monthly (US) and HD Review (UK) as well as games, websites, packages and all sorts of wacky prints.

"When I saw Jorge's work, it just clicked! He's incredibly talented, and his style fits perfectly with our brand language. He's already drawing sketches that have us excited! The idea is to create a custom piece of art for our winners that is of these genres." says, Kristen Nedopak, Co-Founder of The Geekies.

The Geekie Awards celebrates independent filmmakers, artists and creators in every genre imaginable. We, as creators, have never found a single show that covered all of our multi-faceted talents, from filmmaking to cosplay to comic book art. So,we created our own awards show just for geeks! Our judges are experts in each of these categories, so you know the person looking at your work is qualified to critique it. We promote EVERY submission as it comes in. The goal is to create the 'Oscars for Geeks' and a long-lasting community where quality work is awarded.
