Ladies Who Launch Partners with Voices of September 11th

(Free-Press-Release.com) March 16, 2011 -- Mary Fetchet, Founding Director of Voices of September 11th (VOICES), has announced a liaison with Ladies Who Launch, Southwestern CT, to help plan several new initiatives to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11.

“Almost ten years after the attacks on 9/11, the number of 9/11 families, rescue workers and survivors that are seeking information and support services continues to grow. We are refining our strategic plan to help us prepare to meet the challenge of providing long-term services for the 9/11 community, beyond the Tenth Anniversary. Ladies Who Launch is an important partner in developing innovative ways to assist our staff and expand our network of volunteers and advisors. The guidance of Kathy McShane, the Managing Director of Ladies Who Launch Southwestern CT, and her members, is invaluable as we take on several new initiatives leading up to the 10th anniversary,” Ms. Fetchet said.

She added, “After attending one of the Ladies Who Launch events, I immediately recognized the supportive community that was created by these professional women. They understand my passion as a Mother who lost her son on 9/11, and see a value in VOICES ongoing efforts and commitment to support to the 9/11 community. After September 11th our world came together and many people helped in a variety of ways. Others that didn’t have an opportunity to help are now coming forward to offer their support. The members of Ladies Who Launch are assisting us in a variety of ways, including identifying volunteers with skills in communications, public relations, event planning, and social media to help us communicate our message.”

Voices of September 11th (VOICES) was co-founded by 9/11 family members Mary Fetchet and Beverly Eckert immediately following the attacks on September 11th. Currently led by Ms. Fetchet, a clinical social worker who lost her 24-year-old son Brad. the organization provides information and a wide range of support services to over 11,000 families, rescue workers and survivors living in the United States and abroad. In 2006, VOICES launched the 9/11 Living Memorial Project which commemorates the lives lost at the World Trade Center site, the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA. and documents firsthand accounts of rescue workers and survivors. Ladies Who Launch (LWL) of Southwestern, CT has a growing membership of women who already take advantage of its numerous resources to help develop new businesses and grow existing businesses. McShane is a committed community leader. She serves on the board of directors of the Bank of New Canaan and on the Norwalk Hospital Foundation. She is also co-chair of Norwalk Hospital’s Circle of Caring, an awareness and fund-raising initiative of the Norwalk Hospital Foundation. She created the non-profit “Exceptional Woman Series,” a program to recognize women leaders in Fairfield County. Ms McShane is a successful marketing entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience.
