Lake Forest Chiropractor Uses Rock Tape to Help Athletes and Patients Alike

"I have been using KinesioTape for several years. It works really well on about half of my patients." Dr. Scott, as he is known, continues that on the "serious athletes, it just wouldn't stick to them well enough."

Enter RockTape. Based in Los Gatos, California, they offer a similar "kinesiology" tape to Kinesio®Tape. The greatest difference. "It's really sticky. Also, it stretches about 50% more than KinesioTape" reports Dr. Scott.

"That greater degree of stretch means that we can use it a little differently than with KinesioTape". Dr. Scott explained that traditionally, kinesiology tapes are used to "trick the central nervous system to fire the muscle a little more or a little less" depending on the patient's condition. "With RockTape, we can do that and we can use it to support the joint as well."

Dr. Scott reports aside from the stretch factor of the tape, the best feature is its hypoallergenic quality. "In the years of using these tapes, I have had one patient have a skin reaction." A rate that Dr. Scott says is lower than with any other tapes available.

Dr. Scott informs us that he will be working several Ironman and paddleboard races over the next few months, taping competitors for free. He states that it is his way of giving back to the community that helps him so much.
