FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 20, 2011 -- 12th April 2011, London, UK:

Language Connect, a leading translation, localisation and interpreting provider, has won an award for innovation for its work as part of the Business Language Champions programme run by CILT, the National Centre for Languages.
The award for innovation is granted annually by CILT to businesses who can demonstrate an innovative approach to working with schools to support language learning.

In 2009, Language Connect partnered with a school in North London, the Convent of Jesus & Mary Language College, which has a large population of students that speak a second language at home. The aim for Language Connect’s activities was to show the bilingual students at the college how they could use and develop their language skills further to become professional translators or interpreters. Workshops are now run twice a term predominantly in Portuguese and Polish due to the large number of students at the school speaking these languages.
The panel of judges gave Language Connect the Highly Commended status for innovation because of the approach that the company took to working directly with teachers at the school in creating an original programme that engages the students and helps them directly recognise the potential value of their language skills in the workplace.
Language Connect has since offered work experience placements in its London head office to students who have expressed interest in pursuing careers within the language services industry following the workshops.
