Latest Update on the Processing of Australian Working Holiday Visa

Australia February 22, 2011 – The Australian holiday visa a program is a program for visitor that encourages cultural exchange. It allows young foreign nationalities aged 18 -30 years from arrangement countries to have an extended holiday which is supplemented by short term work. It is compromised of the working holiday (subclass 417) visa and the work and holiday (subclass 462) visa – both of these australian working holiday visa may be termed differently in arrangement countries. They both allow 12 months stay, a short period of study and work for a limited period of time. There are additional requirements for applicants from other countries to meet extra criteria to be eligible for the visa program such as the following:

USA – Applicant must have graduated from high school.

Chile – Applicant must hold tertiary qualification or have at least completed/been approved to undertake a third year of undergraduate university study. He/She must provide documentary evidence of his/her English level when lodging his/her visa application. A letter of approval from the Chile Ministry of Foreign Affairs must also be obtained.

Indonesia – Applicant must hold tertiary qualifications or have successful completed at least two years of undergraduate university study. A documentary evidence of an English level must also be provided to lodge a visa application. Lastly, a letter of approval from the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration must be obtained.

Malaysia – Applicant must hold tertiary qualifications or have successfully completed at least two years of undergraduate university study and must provide documentary evidence of an English level when lodging a visa application. A letter of Good Conduct from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also needed.

Thailand – Applicant must be a degree holder or has a post high school diploma from an accredited institution and must provide documentary evidence of an English level when lodging a work visa for Australia application. Applicant must also obtain a letter of approval from the Office of Welfare Promotion, Protection and Empowerment of Vulnerable Groups in Bangkok.

Turkey – Applicant must hold tertiary qualifications or completed at least two years of undergraduate university study and must provide evidence of English level when lodging an application of work visa to Australia. Lastly, a letter of approval/support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be obtained.

Some of the working holiday visa conditions include limit of 6 months in working for the same employer and limit of study or training for not more than 4 months. Take note that there may be other discretionary conditions imposed on this work visa for Australia when its granted.
