LaVerne Council Is a Business Leader with Varied Achievements

LaVerne Council is a determined businesswoman who has received various awards and honors in her career. She has had held important positions in various prestigious organizations. She was a partner with Ernst and Young and led the company’s Global Supply Chain Strategy practice. She also served at leadership positions focusing on infrastructure engineering, networking, security, and enterprise application interfaces. She has also worked as Global Vice President for Information Technology, Global Business Solutions and Development Services for Dell, Inc. There, she developed and implemented business growth solutions, created a global development model, and managed the global quality process through the implementation of Capability Maturity Model strategies.

A highly regarded businesswoman, LaVerne Council received the 2011 Alumni Business Achievement Award from Ernst & Young and she was also named “Women of Substance” by Odyssey Media in 2011. She was among Top 75 Black Women in Business by Black Enterprise in 2010 and included in Business Trends Quarterly's 2009 Best CIOs in America list. In 2011, Ms. Council won the Odyssey Media’s Woman of Substance Award. She was presented with this award as she has changed lives, preserved African American culture and lifted others to reach their highest potential. She also heads the March of Dimes National Board of Trustees.

LaVerne Council holds an M.B.A. in Operations Management from Illinois State University. She also holds B.S. degree with high honors from Western Illinois University. In 2010, Ms. Council was presented with a Doctor of Business Administration, Honoris Causa from Drexel University.
