Lead Paint Removal Training and Riverbend Environmental Join Forces to Meet 400% Surge in Demand for EPA RRP Lead Certification Training

The US EPA’s RRP Rule is now in effect; Contractors and Renovators have from October 1 to December 31, 2010 to train and certify lead safety supervisors and apply for EPA Firm Certification. Consequences for contractors missing the deadline can include fines of up to $32,000.00 per day / per incident.

Contractors engaged in Lead Abatement must now enroll representatives in an EPA accredited 8 hour course with a certifying exam in order to avoid EPA fines. “Initially we found contractors and renovators were skeptical of the need for the EPA Lead guidelines and certification process. These statistics are good news for the CDC and other health organizations joined in the support of Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Programs. Currently, the CDC estimates 250,000 U.S. children have elevated blood-lead levels. Adults working and living in lead dust contaminated areas are at risk too.

As the December deadline approaches, forecasters at LPRT expect the trend to continue. Enrollments for October have already exceeded August and September combined. Classes are being added across the country on a daily basis to meet the demand.
