Leading Emissions Reduction in Global Shipping

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 30, 2011 -- The contemporary shipping industry accounts for three to four per cent of man-made carbon dioxide emissions worldwide and this figure is expected to rise to six per cent by 2020 and then double by 2050. Carbon emissions from shipping are already double that of international aviation, and a single large container ship one can throw out as much acidifying sulphur dioxide in a year as 50 million cars.

As a result, despite standing on the height of enormous opportunities, Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) are facing a key challenge – being operationally efficient in the face of rising demand and tighter energy efficiency regulations.

Shipping industry experts will gather at IQPC’s Offshore Support Vessels Summit 2012 to discuss key project management strategies for cost-efficient, operationally reliable and NOx/SOx compliant OSVs.

Taking place in Amsterdam on the 26th – 28th April, Offshore Support Vessels Summit brings you the latest insights and case studies on optimising the design and operational aspects of OSVs to reduce emissions, maximise production and reduce downtime. Through a global agenda showcasing real-life experiences from Europe, Asia, North and South America, the event will equip ship-owners/operators and oil companies with the best design tools and operational strategies to manage their OSV projects and successfully leverage the advances in energy efficient technologies.
