Barksdale AFB is named in honor of Lt. Eugene Hoy Barksdale, Air Corps, U.S. Army, who lost his life Aug. 11, 1926, while flight testing an observation-type airplane over McCook Field, in Dayton, Ohio.

Congressman John C. Fleming visited Barksdale Air Force Base, La., March 25 and received an orientation flight and capabilities briefing in a B-52H Stratofortress

Barksdale AFB has a new Full Color LED/digital sign on the Flight Line. Barksdale AFB upgraded their previous monochrome sign to a Full Color sign capable of displaying text, graphics and animations. The new sign will greet individuals who arrive at the base and provide them with important information about their visit.

and military alerts is vital to a well run military base. No other form of communications is as noticeable or effective. Messages can be easily pre-programmed to run in a variety of ways with the use of a secured PC.

Static signs get overlooked by individuals after a period of time, especially when the message has remained the same for a lengthy amount of time. Scrolling, flashing and moving letters attract the human eye like no other form of advertising. LED and LCD signs can quickly pay for themselves whereas static signs and paper memos are constantly requiring humans to update them.
