Featuring the slapstick humour and madcap stylings made famous by Traveller's Tales, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is a magical new way to experience the beloved wizarding world and step directly into the shoes of Harry, Hermione, Ron and co.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 follows the form of previous LEGO games, allowing you to lead a small group of characters through levels and missions based on the world-renowned stories. Each character has a special ability and you can swap between characters at the touch of a button, but it's up to you to figure out who in your party has the right skills for the puzzles and tasks that await in this fantastical adventure. As you play through the stories you'll collect LEGO studs which act as currency to buy new characters or other goodies and you can also replay levels with new characters you've unlocked to access secret areas.

The story begins under the stairs in Privet Drive and ends at the Triwizard Tournament, with stops at iconic locations such as Diagon Alley, Gringotts, the Forbidden Forest, the Burrow and Hogsmeade in between - though it almost goes without saying you'll be spending most of your time in the hallowed halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hogwarts itself has been lovingly modelled and stands out as the most expansive environment in LEGO game history so far. There's plenty to discover and do in these secret-stuffed corridors, including hunting for special bonus items, unlocking new characters or helping out the Owl Post!

Featuring an astounding 140 playable characters to unlock, there's a perfect team for everyone. Not only can you play as the core characters from the books and films (Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley or Hagrid), you can also play as animals (Scabbers or Crookshanks) or as monsters and (gasp) baddies! Each character has their own special talents: Harry has an invisibility cloak and can speak Parseltongue, Scabbers can fit through tiny spaces and the bad guys, well, you'll just have to wait and see...

To make like Harry Potter himself you have to take the rough with the smooth and that means school. It's not so bad though; as you attend lessons you'll meet other students and teachers, learn how to make potions from specific ingredients and cast block-rocking spells such as Lumos, Transfiguration and Immobulus. Each spell can be cast with a wave of the Wii Remote and grants a useful ability which will come in handy when exploring the gargantuan settings and figuring out puzzles. Wingardium Leviosa, for example, allows you to levitate individual LEGO bricks with the Wii Remote and build completely new objects or platforms as you find creative ways to solve puzzles. Of course, school wouldn't be school without sport and you'll need to master the art of the broomstick if you're going to be a pro on the Quidditch pitch, unless you're a natural like Harry.

If playing solo isn't your bag the game features split-screen 'drop-in drop-out' multiplayer where a mate can pick up a Wii Remote and jump in as your secondary character at the drop of a Sorting Hat. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 contains more wizardly adventure than you can shake an unyielding wand at. So if you want to step into Harry's shoes and face the forces of darkness you'd better start limbering up that wand hand!
