Research from a London Business School academic has suggested that less may be more when it comes to Christmas gift buying

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 12, 2012 -- Less is more this Christmas. As the holiday season is coming closer and the last-minute customers hit the stores or go online retailers to discover the best gift, research from a London Business School academic has suggested that less may be more when it comes to Christmas gift buying.

A research co-written by Dr Gabrielle Adams, Assistant Professor of Organisational Behaviour and lecturer of human resource management discovered that although most gift givers think there to be a association among the price of a gift and level of gratitude, the reality is that receivers don’t appreciate luxurious presents that much extra.

The research by Dr Adams and co-writer Professor Frank Flynn from Stanford University human resource management department is predominantly well-timed with the low-spirited economic prediction impacting the pouches of people around the world.

Observing on her research, Dr Adams stated: "You just don't have to spend that additional fifty pounds to get the same amount of gratitude for a present."

In the research, participants were requested to reflect about giving or receiving either one a CD or an iPod. Those who were aimlessly allocated to be “givers” believed by giving the more costly iPod their gift would be valued more in comparison to the CD.

‘The “receivers” valued no variance in gratitude levels, irrespective of which item they were said to think about receiving’ said the human resource management expert.

Despite the fact that Christmas is probable to give venders a well-timed improvement this year – for the most part with online retail deals on the rise – numerous researches point out that individuals often fail to evaluate presents more, even if their price is exlusively high.
