Chennai, February 15, 2012: Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) is conducting BEACON’12, the International Business Ethics conference with the theme Eco-Innovation: Time to Wake Up! and Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizen 2011 on 17th Feb 2012 at Hotel Hyatt Regency. BEACON’12 will be inaugurated by Smt. Jayanthi Natrajan, Minister for Forests & Environment. Dr Nandita Krishnan, Director - CPRAF and Editor, Indian journal of environmental education, Prof Oopali Operajita, Chair- The Al Gore Sustainable Technology Venture Competition, Mr P Murari, Advisor- President FICCI will chair the sessions. Mr Mukundan & Ms.AlkaTalwar (Tata Chemicals) and Mr.PNC Menon & Mr.Gopal Krishnan (Sobha developers) will be conferred with Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizen. The award committee consist people of eminence known for their social commitment. The awards will be presented by Mr. N. Gopalaswamy I.A.S (retd) Former Chief Election Commissioner, Govt of India and the report will be delivered by Mr. N. Vittal I.A.S (retd) Former Vigilance Commissioner, Govt of India.
LIBA BEACON’12 series draws attention to environmental problems facing the country and the pressing need to augment investment, development and diffusion of eco-friendly technologies. Each year the themes increase by relevance and importance. This year’s theme Eco-Innovation was chosen as it is the need of the hour. LIBA has instituted this award in the name of Mother Teresa, the Angel of Mercy and Compassion, for Corporate Citizen in the year 1998 to uphold to management students, the corporate world and the general public a business enterprise as a role model in responsible Corporate Citizenship for its deep involvement in programmes of social responsibility beyond the call of its duty.
