Libya el Hurra Charity (LHC) Continues “Project Picking Up the Pieces” with Arch of Marcus Aurelius Cleanup

TRIPOLI, LIBYA – Libya el Hurra Charity (LHC) released the following statement touting the success of a recent “Project Picking Up the Pieces” public works program:

Libya el Hurra Charity’s “Project Picking Up the Pieces” proudly supports local Libyan communities and their participation in social awareness projects, community revitalization efforts such as neighborhood street cleaning, curb repair and graffiti removal, as well as the reconstruction of vital community governmental infrastructures like police stations and post offices.

One recent project involved the cleaning up the area around the historic Arch of Marcus Aurelius in Tripoli, a national treasure constructed in honor of the Roman Emperor and philosopher reportedly in 163 A.D. More than 50 community members joined LHC to clean up debris, remove graffiti and landscape the area around the precious landmark that is also a popular tourist attraction.

“I’m proud of the success thus far of “Project Picking Up the Pieces,” and even prouder of the hundreds of community volunteers who have rolled up their sleeves and begun the process of rebuilding their neighborhoods. Historic times present historic opportunities, and I look forward to continuing to stand with these communities as we create a Libya that works for all of us,” said Hassan Tatanaki, founder of Libya el Hurra Charity.
